A risk assessment is the foundational work in your Safety Management Program. Doing a risk assessment is proof that management sat down, looked at all the task performed within the company and identified the necessary steps to perform the tasks safely.
A Company’s risk assessment must be done by a Risk Assessment team that are familiar with the hazards and risk attached to each task and how to do the task safely. Be realistic in the controls identified. Unrealistic controls will only incriminate management.
Appointing a consultant will assist you in compiling a risk assessment that is legal compliant that will protect you in the court of law.
Doing a CETA accredited risk assessment course is a step in the right direction to do a risk assessment correctly.
– In principal they are the same : both are proof that your company is safe and compliant and is designed to save lives.
– Every company must have a safety file. Irrespective if you are in manufacturing or only admin.
– Safety management program : safety file that shows proof of evidence that you as a company are doing all tasks safe on your premises.
– The moment that your company does an installation on another site, you need to provide an additional safety file.
– Construction file : proof for the client that the contractors are safe. That they have sat down and thought about how to do the construction work safe on the client site.
– That construction safety file remains your clients property. As proof of evidence that he acted as a responsible person and all of his contractors are safe on his site.
